Ranked Responsibility Area for Auto Folder Placement

Avatar

Hi there, looking to add a feature request to be able to determine which folder a ticket is routed to based on ranking potentially overlapping Responsibility Area polygons datasets.

Use case: we want to be able to highlight/review tickets which geographically intersect pre-defined polygons which represent our higher risk infrastructure or areas, and the easiest way to do this is to have them directed to certain folders. Some of these polygons representing different priorities may intersect. We may respond to tickets differently depending on what infrastructure/area they are in, having them pre-sorted into different folders would be immensely helpful.

Current Behavior: When a ticket comes in and encounters two overlapping Responsibility Areas in the “Match on Responsibility Area” setting under Auto Folder Placement Summary, UtiliSphere determines (semi-randomly?) which rule the ticket hits first, and moves the ticket to the corresponding older.

Proposed Behavior: When a ticket comes in and gets to Auto Folder Placement matched on Responsibility Area rule,

  1. System sees if ticket work area intersects Responsibility Area polygon 1, if so, filter moves ticket to folder A (ex. Locatable or high risk/value infrastructure)
  2. If not, system sees if ticket intersects Responsibility Area polygon 2, if so, filters to folder B (ex. Infrastructure in high risk/value areas or new developments)
  3. If not, system sees if ticket intersects Responsibility Area polygon 3, if so, filters to folder C
  4. Continues until there are no more Responsibility Area polygon sets to filter through, then system continues sending the ticket through remaining Auto Folder Placement rules, then through remaining Auto Process Category Priority rules.

Desired Outcome: In the Auto-Processing -> Auto Process Category Priority menu settings, have ability to rank placement rules regarding “match on Responsibility Area” via a “1,2,3,etc.” drop down if more than one “match on Responsibility Area” is found in the Auto Folder Placement feature settings. This “1,2,3, etc.” dropdown could also make sense in the Auto-Processing -> Auto Folder Placement menu setting area, perhaps within each Responsibility Match On item. Or even a new menu option – just some way to be able to create an order which a ticket is funneled through if there are multiple Responsibility Areas.

Thank you for consideration.
