New Standard App for Meter Inspections with AI

Irth has published a new standard app to UtiliSphere. UtiliSphere’s standard apps provide out-of-the-box functionality to complex processes to make it faster and easier to implement the latest technologies and industry standards.

UtiliSphere’s new standard app for Meter Inspections provides gas utilities with the ability to increase efficiency when conducting meter inspections.

The new standard app in UtiliSphere works as follows:

• Gas utilities load their meters in UtiliSphere on a Meter Inspection Form
• The Meter Inspection are assigned to field techs
• The field tech goes onsite and takes a picture of the meter
• UtiliSphere does the following:
  • Closes the current Meter Inspection when a picture is taken
• Schedules the next Meter Inspection
• Runs the pictures through an AI model to determine if the meter has Corrosion, Vegetation, Rust or is Buried
• Automatically kicks off a Corrective Action if Corrosion, Vegetation, Rust or Buried is Found on the meter

The standard app for Meter Inspections includes:

• Forms
  • Meter Inspection Form
• Corrective Action Form
• Automation
  • When a picture is taken on the Meter Inspection, the meter inspection is automatically closed and a new one is created and schedule 3 years out
• When the meter is inside or remote on the Meter Inspection, the meter inspection is automatically closed and a new one is created and schedule 3 years out
• All Meter Inspections created are automatically put into the Meter Inspection Folder
• Artificial Intelligence
  • Every pictures taken on a Meter Inspection is passed to Irth’s AI model to look for:
    • Corrosion
  • Vegetation
  • Buried
  • Rust

• The results from the AI model are passed back to UtiliSphere and stored on fields on the work item
• Automation: if AI determines the meters is 75% or more likely to have corrosion, vegetation, buried or rust, a Corrective Action Form is automatically created and linked to the Meter Inspection

  • Meter Inspection summary screen to help users easily see the results of the AI findings along with managing their inspections
• Corrective Action summary screen to help manage who is assigned and due dates for the correction action
• Self Service Report
  • Shows the results by meter by month
